Vintage Britix Valjoux 72C Chronograph Watch – Rare Manual Wind Triple Calendar Datora

Brand: Britix
Movement: Valjoux 72C Manual Wind
Functions: Chronograph, Full Calendar (Day, Date, Month)
Era: 1940s–1950s
Condition: Vintage Pre-Owned – Working
Certification: Certified Pre-Owned (CPO)

This ultra-rare vintage Britix chronograph features the iconic Valjoux 72C movement, one of the most desirable and complicated manual wind Swiss chronograph movements ever made. With triple calendar complications and two-register chronograph layout, this collectible watch rivals some of the best designs by Breitling, Heuer, Rolex, and Wakmann.

Britix Watch Company was established in 1940 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, later moving to Lengnau in 1945. It was part of a vibrant Swiss watchmaking ecosystem, potentially collaborating with legendary brands like Breitling and Wakmann. Some timepieces were even dual-branded as Wakmann Britix, and Britix is known to have used Venus and Valjoux chronograph movements.

The watch features a beautifully aged silver/white dial with English day and date windows, and triple-faceted lugs that reflect its original factory finish. This is a timepiece from the golden era of Swiss horology—hand-machined, before mass production changed everything.

About the Valjoux 72C Movement

The Valjoux 72C caliber is a close relative of the famed Valjoux 72—the movement used in the Rolex Daytona Paul Newman, Heuer Autavia, and other grail watches. This variant adds a triple calendar complication (day, date, month), making it even more complex and collectible. Watches with Valjoux 72C movements are often referred to as Datora, Triple Date, Calendar Compax, or simply “Full Calendar Chronographs.”

Highly sought after by vintage chronograph collectors, this movement was used in watches by Baume & Mercier, Mathey-Tissot, Doxa, and more. Its layout and features resemble prestigious complications from Patek Philippe and Rolex, offering significant value and mechanical prestige.
