Service Level

At Experts Watches, we believe in full transparency. Many sellers claim their watches are “serviced” — when in fact, they are not. We encourage all buyers to ask questions and request service details before making a purchase. Below is a complete breakdown of the service levels for every watch we sell, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

In This Guide

Level 1: Experts Watches Certified Service

Serviced by our in-house vintage watch repair center with over 30 years of experience — old-school craftsmanship that is rare today. This is our highest level of service, ideal for daily wear or long-term collection.

  • Disassembly of the movement and case
  • Inspection of all parts for wear and damage
  • Cleaning using specialized watchmaking solvents
  • Reassembly with high-grade Swiss lubricants and oils
  • Regulation and timing using advanced equipment
  • Water resistance and pressure testing (where applicable)
  • Accuracy testing
  • Caseback marked and dated by the technician

Level 2: Serviced by Previous Owner

These watches were professionally serviced prior to arriving at our facility — typically by trusted dealers or private collectors. Upon receipt, we inspect and verify each piece for timing accuracy and confirm it meets standard vintage watch performance benchmarks.

Level 3: Inspected & Timed

These watches have been fully inspected and passed our Certified Pre-Owned requirements. Each watch has been timed using a professional timegrapher and confirmed to perform within vintage tolerances.

Note: Timing data is a snapshot during our testing and is not a guarantee of future accuracy. Vintage watches can vary depending on temperature, position, and wrist movement. Acceptable variance is ±2 minutes/day (up to ±5 minutes in some cases). For best long-term performance, professional servicing is recommended.

Level 4: Sold As-Is

These watches are offered without recent service and may require inspection or repair. They are ideal for knowledgeable collectors or project pieces. Newer or lower-priced watches may not go through full servicing.

Service cost estimates: $450–$900 for basic service; up to $1,500 for full overhauls. See the specification section on each listing for full details.

Additional Notes

  • Mechanical watches require routine maintenance, just like a car — plan for a service every 5–10 years.
  • Actual performance will vary based on usage, wrist position, and temperature.
  • Unless otherwise stated, all watches are sold in the condition described in their individual listing.
  • We encourage all buyers to ask questions before purchasing — our team is always available to provide full service history details.
