About OMEGA

From its inception in 1848 by Louis Brandt at just 23 years old, OMEGA has been synonymous with precision, innovation, and timeless elegance. By 1895, OMEGA watches achieved a remarkable precision of 30 seconds a day, and by the turn of the 19th century, the company was one of Switzerland’s largest watchmakers, producing 240,000 pieces annually with a workforce of 800.

OMEGA’s illustrious history includes serving as the official timekeeper at 21 Olympic Games, setting a world precision record of 97.8 points in 1936, and being the first watch worn on the Moon during Neil Armstrong’s historic lunar mission in 1969.

The Caliber 321 Movement

The Omega Caliber 321 chronograph movement is the stuff of legend. Known for its precision and exceptional craftsmanship, this manually wound movement was famously used in the Speedmaster that went to the Moon. However, it wasn’t limited to the Speedmaster alone; this iconic movement also powered the rare and stylish Seamaster chronographs of the 1960s, bridging both technical prowess and elegance.

The SpeedMaster Line

In 1957, with motorsport in mind, Omega launched the Speedmaster, which in 1965 was chosen by NASA as its official chronometer in Space. Four years later, the Moonwatch was the first watch to be worn on the Moon, when on 21st July 1969, Neil Armstrong made his giant leap for mankind. Currently, Omega belongs to the Swatch Group.
